For the past couple of months Josh and I had been discussing getting a pet for the kids because they are scared of everything that moves. We talked about how much work puppies are, neither of us really like cats so that left us with chickens! Weird Right?!?! We have 6 baby chicks (Cluck-Cluck, Cars, Pink, Marigold, Poppy and Daisy) 3 will go to my grandma, once we get her coop built. The kids have done really well with them, and will even hold them. We are looking forward to them eating the bugs, and providing us with fresh eggs everyday. We were told they lay about a egg a day.
Building the chicken coop
We let the kids help us paint the inside of the coop, they had a blast, I was covered in paint! They didn't quite get the concept of not painting the floor first, and wiping off the paint before you carry your paint brush over mom to the other side of the coop.
The chicks are living in the chicken coop, but the outside is not finished yet, we still need to finish painting and but the wire up on their chicken run.

That's awesome! My brother and his family have 4 chickens and have eggs running out their ears! It's nice for the entire family since we all benefit from the loot! Have fun with your chickens and hope none of them decide they are roosters! ;-)
